The Gardens of the Casino de Monte-Carlo: A Haven of Peace and Luxury.
Right in the very heart of the Principality’s most iconic district, these sumptuous gardens are an oasis of greenery and serenity.

A little history...

Created in 1893 by landscape architect Edouard André, the gardens surround the world-famous Casino de Monte-Carlo, commanding unmatched views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Edouard André drew his inspiration for their design from fashionable theories about the French Riviera.  The region was classed as a very hot area, inhabitable only in winter. From December to March, local gardens were supposed to give the impression of blazing, tropical fauna, an eternal spring. Opposite the Casino, stretching down a gentle slope, the "Boulingrins" (the word comes from “bowling greens”) are lined by flowerbeds.

Many of the details of the overall layout have been changed since it was created, but overall the garden has retained the exotic feel that Edouard André originally gave it by planting subtropical species.  Not for nothing is this part of the gardens known as "Little Africa".

A garden of wonder

On setting foot in the gardens, you will immediately be greeted by the beautiful spectacle of the painstakingly curated lawns, beds planted with bright flowers, and majestic palm trees. The winding paths will take you past a variety of exotic and local plants, elegant sculptures, and refreshing fountains. The Casino Gardens are the perfect place to take a romantic stroll or simply to rest awhile after a long day exploring the Principality.
Nearby is the legendary Café de Paris, where you can enjoy a little light refreshment and something delicious to eat as you sit and admire the Casino and its stunning Belle Epoque architecture.

In winter, the whole gardens come alive with the magic of Christmas.  A magnificent antique carousel gently spins in the middle of the Boulingrins garden, affording the riders fairytale views of the Casino as they go.

The lush and verdant Gardens of the Casino de Monte-Carlo are a surprising contrast with the bustle and energy of the city, embodying all the charm and elegance of Monaco.  A walk through this splendid green space is an unforgettable experience day or night, whatever the season.
Come and explore this iconic place, and fall under the spell of one of the Riviera’s finest gardens.

Admission to the gardens is free.
