On 4 December 2014, at the Fairmont Monte-Carlo Hotel, the committee of the Prix Galien (Galien Prize) will recognise the most deserving laboratory or medical research group
The Prix Galien has been in existence for 45 years
The Prix Galien was created in 1970. It is awarded for pharmaceutical research and therapeutic innovations undertaken in France each year. Its aim is to promote and stimulate research into drugs and encourage laboratories and research teams, with a view to improving patients' quality of life.
An international award
As well as attracting the interest of ministries of health, research and industry and experts in pharmacology, clinical medicine and toxicology, the Prix Galien now covers 16 countries throughout the world (France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Canada, Switzerland, the United States, Poland, Israel, Greece and Russia). The Prix Galien has been in existence since 1993.
A medal worthy of the greatest
The medal presented to the winners was created by Albert de Jaeger, who was the winner of the 1st Grand Prix de Rome architecture prize and a great French medallist. He designed medals for numerous dignitaries and celebrities, such as Pope John Paul I, presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy, General De Galle, Marcel Proust, and notably Princess Grace of Monaco, to mark her marriage to Prince Rainier III.
