Carlos Cruz-Diez at the Marlborough Gallery Monaco

The exhibition "Transfiguration of Colour" will be on display from 19 March to 26 May 2015

For the first time in Monaco, the Marlborough Gallery is presenting a solo exhibition by Carlos Cruz-Diez, a leading proponent of optical and kinetic art.

As a colour theorist, his latest conceptual advances are derived from this theory.  His research is based on three chromatic situations – subtractive, additive and reflective, and has enabled him to take a new cognitive approach to the phenomenon of colour, considerably widening his field of perception.

The exhibition is comprised of thirty or so recent works - paintings and sculptures - representing investigations that the artist has undertaken throughout his career.  The works are an invitation to become immersed in the world of the artist and enable the viewer to see and feel colour like Carlos Cruz-Diez.

Among the works on show are Physichromies, Additive Colours, Chromatic Inductions and Transchromies, as well as works from the series "Colour in Space."  To extend this dialogue with colour further, part of the exhibition will be devoted to a "Chromointerferent Environment," created especially for the Gallery, which, by movement in space, aims to create a situation of immateriality, transfiguration and ambiguity of colour.
