Kwangchul Youn Recital at the Monte-Carlo Opera
A singer with one of the richest bass voices will perform Franz Schubert's Winterreise (Winter Journey) on 28 March 2015 at 8 p.m.
The Winterreise (Winter Journey) song cycle, written just a year before Schubert's death, is unquestionably the composer's most beautiful collection of lieder.
Singer Kwangchul Youn is particularly renowned for his Wagnerian roles on stage at venues such as the Bayreuth Festival and the Metropolitan Opera, New York. His interpretations of Schubert's lieder, with his mastery of the art of nuances and his deep musicality, are sure to touch the hearts of the audience.
Kwangchul Youn was born in Korea, and took singing lessons there. From 1993 to 2004, he was a member of the Berlin State Opera, where he performed and familiarised himself with a wide repertoire. In recent years, his impressive bass voice has received acclaim on the leading international stages.
