French TV channel TF1's events subsidiary, TF1 Events, played host to Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority's (DTC's) Convention Bureau on 5 December in Paris. Representatives of the Convention Bureau were accompanied by members of Monaco's Economic Development Chamber and a panel of Monegasque professionals. The aim was to attract Parisian conference organisers in the areas of finance, technology, medical tourism and sustainable development.
On Thursday 5 December, more than 160 guests flocked to an evening held jointly by TF1 Events and Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority's Convention Bureau at the headquarters of TF1, the most iconic TV channel on the audiovisual scene.
According to Stéphane Rives, Director of TF1 Events, the importance of this collaboration "reflects the DNA of the two brands". Both benefit from a superb image - an image of excellence and professionalism."
Sandrine Camia, Director of the Convention Bureau, agreed. "Combining TF1 Event's extensive address list with the equally extensive list of the Principality's loyal clients was a real success."
The Convention Bureau's new campaign capitalises on the areas of expertise in which Monaco excels – which are sometimes rather unexpected!
Finance, environmental responsibility, the medical field and new technologies are now an integral part of Monaco's key skills. Backed by this experience, Monaco is ideally placed to organise events in these sectors.
On stage at TF1's auditorium were Professor Rampal (President of Monaco Scientific Centre – The Principality of Monaco's Research Agency), Jean-Paul Claret (President of the Employers' Federation of the Chamber of New Technologies and director of Eurocloud Monaco) and Eric Villalonga (director of Hydroconcept Solar) - three Monegasque experts, each representing an area of expertise, who explained the Principality's global position in their specialist fields.
The DTC's Monegasque hotel and tourism partners, including the Oceanographic Museum, the Groupe Monte-Carlo SBM, the Fairmont Monte-Carlo and the Colombus Monaco, were able to assess the participants' overall impressions at the end of the evening. In general, participants realised that some of their clichéd ideas of the Principality were unjustified and now had a better understanding of Monaco's strengths and economic potential.
The Principality's festive and cultural programme is also part of its image, with more than 700 events per year offering a combination of art and luxury; Parisian professionals now have a better idea of the economic potential of Monaco's areas of expertise.
