A Journey of Discovery Linking Faith and Matter in Monaco

The exhibition "Religare Beyond the Sea" by Jorge R. Pombo is on display at St. Nicholas' Church from 21 September to 21 December 2016

In his works, the artist explores the link between Faith and Matter, instigating a dialogue between the cities in which we live, the Saints and the relics that represent them.

"RELIGARE BEYOND THE SEA," which is associated with Monaco's Heritage Day on 25 September 2016, is part of a long tradition in the Principality.  Monaco has always been a crossroads between cultures and religions, dialoguing with the world from its port and welcoming those who come across the seas with new ideas, which are then combined with its own.

The artist will be present at the inauguration on 20 September and will be available for the Press from 6 p.m.

The exhibition will be on display from 21 September to 21 December 2016 in St. Nicholas' church in Fontvieille from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

XXIème Journée Européenne du Patrimoine

The 21st edition of this appointment became unavoidable will highlight the richness and diversity of the sacred heritage, tangible and intangible, present in the Principality. In Monaco, the Catholic, Apostolic and Roman religion is the state religion but the constitution guarantees freedom of worship and public practice. The culture of respect, tolerance in diversity allows communities to live together in harmony. So these are obviously the different parishes of the Diocese will open their doors to discover their sacred and sometimes unusual treasures (religious objects, art works, organs, ...) but also other religions officially represented at Monaco. For twenty years, the success of the European Day of the Principality of Heritage, coordinated by the Department of Cultural Affairs, owes much to the enthusiasm shown by the participating sites but also to the quality of their reception and tours offered are always welcomed by the public.
