World-renowned athletes will be competing in the Prince Albert II Challenge on 15 and 16 February 2014

Monaco Nautical Society (Societé Nautique de Monaco) is organising one of the few winter sea rowing competitions from 15 to 16 February 2014.

The Principality will be hosting almost 400 international rowers at this event.

A dozen nationalities will be represented and will try to win the prestigious Prince Albert II Challenge - fifty or so clubs from all over Europe and Russia will take part during two consecutive days.

Algeria and Greece will also be represented and will prepare for the Mediterranean Sea Rowing Cup, which will take place in 2015.

Monaco Nautical Society will be playing host to some very high-level rowers:  Quentin Antognelli (Monaco Nautical Society) and Benoît Demey from the French team, as well as French young hopefuls Romain Garcia and Morgan Maunoir.  Peter Berg (Bronze medallist at the three last World Championships) will also be present.

Following ESCP Europe's participation in the Prince Albert II Challenge last year, the 2014 event will also be hosting rowing clubs from two other French Grandes Ecoles, HEC and ParisTech (Polytechnique).

At this event, a triangular match will be organised between the three clubs, reminiscent of the Oxford and Cambridge boat races.

It will be possible to watch the races from the Rainier III jetty (Jetée Rainier III)
Saturday 15 from 1.45 p.m.
Sunday 16 from 9 a.m.
