18 years after their first meeting, Diana Vishneva and Jean-Christophe Maillot are creating a work together. It will be performed in 2013-2014.

Diana Vishneva, the Russian star of the Mariinsky Theatre, has been in residence at the studio of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo for two weeks, as she wished to work on creating a solo with Jean-Christophe MAILLOT.

In 1994, when he was President of the Jury of the Prix de Lausanne, the Director of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo presented her with a gold medal.  18 years later, they are meeting again to create a work that will be performed in 2013-2014 on the great international stages, where the dancer often performs.

Diana Vishneva is a key figure in the world of dance.  She rose to fame following her dazzling performances of the leading roles in the Mariinsky's repertoire, including Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Sylvia and the Nutcracker.

She also excels in the "contemporary" repertoire, with choreography by William Forsythe, Edouard Lock, Martha Graham, Alexeï Ratmansky (American Ballet Theater), John Neumeier, Paul Lighfoot and Sol Leon (Nederlands Dans Theater), Moses Pendleton (Momix), and others.

Diana Vishneva has been acclaimed on the greatest international stages.  She is currently Guest Star at the American Ballet Theater.

Through this project Jean-Christophe MAILLOT, Director and Choreographer of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, is affirming the close links that are being established with the great Russian theatres, which recognise his in-depth understanding of the special characteristics of Russian dancers and his ability to bring out the best in them.

Another project is currently being planned – a full evening performance for the Bolshoi Ballet in June 2014.
