The Ballets de Monte Carlo

For their 2016-2017 season, the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, directed by Jean-Christophe Maillot, are offering a real tour of the world and of different styles.

This diverse and particularly full programme, featuring some of the most renowned and imaginative dance companies, offers audiences the chance to experience all kinds of thrills and emotions, with classical and contemporary dance, hip hop and contemporary ice skating.

You will be able to see:

The National Ballet of Marseille, Wang Ramirez, Peeping Tom (new work), Liquid-Loft Chris Haring/Michel Blazy, L.E.V Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar (new work), Le Patin Libre, the Danza Contemporanea Company from Cuba, and more.

The works presented include seven new creations, four of which have been choreographed especially for the Ballets de Monte-Carlo by Marie Chouinard, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Natalia Horecna and Jeroen Verbruggen.

The Company will also perform works from the repertoire of Jean-Christophe Maillot - narrative ballet and rich works with contemporary touches that serve as his "research laboratory" – a new production of "La Belle" (based on "Beauty and the Best") and an entire Jean-Christophe Maillot evening, "Men’s Dance for Women."

The Ballets de Monte-Carlo will also be on tour for much of the year, performing in China, Colombia and Mexico, Spain and Italy.  They will present the main works from their repertoire – "Le Songe" (based on "A Midsummer Night's Dream") "Roméo et Juliette" ("Romeo and Juliet") "Lac "(based on "Swan Lake") and "Cendrillon" ("Cinderella") by Jean-Christophe Maillot.

The Princess Grace Academy and Monaco Dance Forum will also be involved, and have made a major contribution to this programme.  They will organise a variety of public events, including Dance at the Museum, colloquiums, meetings and film screenings.

Finally, the season will end on a high note with the first "f(Ê)aiTes de la danse" dance festival, on the night of 1 to 2 July 2017.

The Ballets de Monte-Carlo, in association with the Prince's Government and the Société des Bains de Mer, are inviting the public to come and dance in the Casino district, which will be transformed into a fabulous festive dance area.

More than ever before, this forthcoming 2016-2017 season demonstrates how the Principality of Monaco is set to maintain its role as a major provider of international dance.
