The 84th Monte-Carlo Automobile Rally will take place from 18 to 24 January 2016
After three days of reconnaissance, from the morning of Monday 18 January to Wednesday 20 January at 2 p.m., the competitors – a maximum of 80 – will have the opportunity to set off for real for a new Shakedown session (3.33 km)(2.05 miles), which is being held for the first time in the town of Gap, a stage town for the 3rd consecutive year, where the service area will once again be situated near the water sports centre.
On Thursday 21 January, the official start will be from 6.10 p.m. in the Place du Casino, Monte-Carlo, for the first of thirteen stages of the FIA's World Rally Championships 2016.
On the programme for the Thursday are two timed events, Entrevaux – Rouaine (ES 1 – 21.11 km) (13.11 miles) and Barles – Seyne-les-Alpes (ES 2 – 20.23 km)(12.57 miles), which will take place at night, in the Department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
As last year, the 2nd day of the race – Friday 22 January – will take place to the north of Gap, between the Departments of Hautes-Alpes and Isère, with a loop consisting of three timed events, very close to each other geographically, to be driven around twice, with, in order, Corps – La Salle-en-Beaumont (ES 3/6 – 14.54 km)(9.03 miles), Aspres-les-Corps – Chauffayer (ES 4/7 – 25.55 km)(15.87 miles) and Les Costes – Chaillol (ES 5/8 – 17.67 km)(10.97 miles).
Almost half of the timed sections of the rally will take place on one day and will feature on the programme for the 3rd day, Saturday 23 January, the longest day of racing.
The last day of the race, Sunday 24 January, will consist of special routes in the countryside of the Alpes-Maritimes. Only competitors ranked in the first 60 on the previous day will be able to take part.
