Inspired by the Richard Artschwager exhibition at the New National Museum of Monaco, this Monegasque hotel is taking part and displaying a BLP
BLPs (pronounced "blips") were created by Artschwager in the late 1960s. They appear as an oblong black shape with rounded ends, with the aim of pointing and attracting attention to places and things that often go unnoticed.
BLPs have been transforming art spaces and streets for decades, creating the conditions for "useless looking" – to which the artist aspired throughout his career – to develop, rather like a punctuation mark that has no function.
A BLP has been fixed to the façade of the Novotel Monte-Carlo Hotel. It can be photographed (until 30 September 2104) by anyone who would like to participate. To do so, publish a photo of your BLP with the hashtag #BLPMC in the text or caption on Instagram or Twitter or e-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org
