08/02/2012  Culture

Two exhibitions of russian art from february 9th to march 13th

The Russian Cultural Centre, created and presided by the Honorary Consul General of Russia in Monaco, Professor Claude PALLANCA, is thus consolidating it's endeavours in establishing the cultural background for current significant  Russian presence in the Principality.

Carré Doré Gallery, showcasing art by more than 70 best Russian contemporary artists throughout the last 3 years, chose to celebrate this remarkable achievement of active members of the Russian community of Monaco and of the Consul General himself by two exhibitions of Russian contemporary art:

- Hall 1 Exhibition  "Ivan Plusch: Suite of 6" presents the artist Ivan Plusch (1981, St-Petersburg), considered to be "one of the young stars of Saint-Petersburg art". "His canvases exploit "peinture coulee", with Plusch turning profile portraits, thickly painted and still wet, on to their sides and allowing the image to deform by the pull of gravity on the paint. The effect is of a face whose features are blasted by an unknown force, against a background signalling some public context - in one case an artship, in another a television headquarters" - Financial Times, August 26, 2009

- Hall 2 Exhibition presents two moscovite masters - Nikolaj Kasatkin (b.1932) and Konstantin Batinkov (b.1959).

Both exhibitions run from February,9 to March,3  2012

Vernissage and the presentation of the web-site of the Russian Cultural Centre: February, the 8th from 6.30 p.m.to 20.00 by invitation only
