26TH ANNUAL MONACO INTERNATIONAL CIRCUS FESTIVAL
JANUARY 17-24, 2002
MONACO- Founded in 1974 by His Serene Highness Prince Rainier III, the International Circus Festival of Monte Carlo assembles the world’s finest circus performers for a series of competitions determining the world’s greatest circus act. On January 17-24, 2001, the 26th edition of the International Circus Festival will welcome twenty-seven circus groups -selected from a pool of over 400 entries- who will compete for the coveted Gold and Silver Clown awards. The 2002 edition will include spectacular animal acts, uproarious comedic performances, and masterfully choreographed acrobatic feats. Highlights of this year’s Festival include the German duo Oliver and Ana performing their renowned equestrian dance, the South American group Les Quiros, world champions of high-rope jumping, and the Italian Giurintano trio with their daring roller-skating act. Each act will be judged for its technical difficulty and creativity, by a jury composed of seasoned circus professionals from around the world. Presiding over the jury, H.S.H. Prince Rainier III and His daughter, H.S.H. Princess Stephanie, who serves as Vice President, will open the star-studded festivities.
