THE CHANCE OF A LIFETIME: MONACO DANCE FORUM ANNOUNCES ‘FIRST JOB AUDITION’
Pre-Professional Dancers Selected to Receive Free Trip to Monaco to Participate in this December’s ‘Monaco Dance Forum’
MONACO – May 28, 2002 – As part of this year’s Monaco Dance Forum, December 10-14, 2002, The First Job Audition invites all eligible dancers to submit their candidature for the opportunity to audition for some of the world’s most renowned international dance troupes. One hundred selected candidates will be chosen by a panel of internationally recognized dance teachers to participate in this incredible international event. Travel and accommodations for the dancers will be paid for compliments of Monaco’s Princess Grace Foundation. Eligible for selection are pre-professional dancers, ages 18-20 for girls and 18-21 for boys.
Candidates must not have had a previous full-time annual contract. For the selected dancers, the First Job Audition will consist of one classical ballet class and a contemporary workshop with an invited choreographer. During their stay, dancers will have the invaluable opportunity to encounter many company directors or their representatives, all in one venue. There are no judges or jury for the Audition; company directors review the event and are free to evaluate any dancer they feel could contribute to their companies.
For consideration, dancers must submit the following to the Monaco Dance Forum by July 30, 2002: · 1 VHS Videotape showing one side of Barre only (right or left) plus center work with grand allegro in leotard and tights. One classical solo (on pointe for girls) and one contemporary segment must also be included. No recordings of school performances will be accepted. · 1 20”x30” Photograph, showing line and feet (on pointe for girls) and wearing the same dancewear as on the videotape. · 2 Passport photographs · Curriculum Vitae or Resumé. Either must include dancer’s e-mail address.
Please send the materials required for consideration to: Monaco Dance Forum First Job Audition Le Casino Place du Casino MC 98000 Principality of Monaco
In addition to covering the costs of travel and accommodations for selected candidates, the Princess Grace Foundation will also award a bursary to the 20 most sought-after dancers. This incentive is aimed at subsidizing the travel costs of candidates offered a number of potential contracts by company directors. Held once every two years, the Monaco Dance Forum is one of the grandest celebrations of the dance in the world, serving as a meeting place for dancers, choreographers, company directors, producers, stage designers, musicians, authors and multimedia artists. Among the activities planned for the five-day event are a dance festival, multimedia exhibition, dance screen competition, and professional’s marketplace.
