FALL FESTIVITIES IN MONACO
Monaco's Fall Calendar Has Something for Everyone
Monaco’s fall calendar boasts some of Europe’s most exciting and diversified attractions from the world-class Monaco Yacht Show and the Rally of Classic Cars to Monaco’s National Day and performances by the legendary Les Ballets de Monte Carlo. As if Monaco’s Mediterranean climate, enchanting landscape, lively casinos and legendary luxury weren’t enough, the enchanted Principality offers myriad fall events that are sure to captivate even the most discriminating traveler.
From now through October 7, Monaco’s National Museum will feature a special tribute to the Barbie Doll. The exhibit will include 140 dolls dressed in unique outfits custom-designed by some of the world’s top designers, including Hermes, Fendi, Sonia Rykiel, Todd Oldham, and Ingrid Klee. Special one-of-a-kind Barbie dolls created in the image of Frank Sinatra, Cher, James Dean, and others will also be on hand.
The biennial Monaco Classic Week, from September 13-23, will allow visitors to relive the principality’s yachting days of yore as the Port Hercule welcomes vintage powerboats, antique motor-yachts and traditional sailing vessels for a week-long celebration of the Principality’s maritime past.
On September 14 , 15, and 16, the Mont Angel Monte-Carlo Golf Club will again welcome the 3rd Annual Big 3 Records Pro-Celebrity Golf Tournament. Co-chaired by H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco, actor Kevin Costner, and Bill Edwards, CEO of Big 3 Records, the tournament will pair screen and stage celebrities with some of the PGA’s “greats” for a 54-hole 3-day event benefiting international charities.
From September 26 –29, Monaco’s Port Hercule Harbor will host 250 exhibitors and 66-65ft+ yachts for the prestigious 11th Annual Monaco Yacht Show. A highlight of the Principality’s event calendar, the show demonstrates Monaco’s privileged status as a leading port of call and a major hub for the international yachting community. This year’s event will feature a 1,900ft extension to the huge air-conditioned tent, 10 world premier yacht launches as well as the first-ever Monte Carlo Tender Show.
The Rally of Classic Cars from September 15-23, will include 40 of Europe’s most well-preserved antique vehicles dating from 1911-1945. The Rally, which begins in the Czech Republic, terminates in Monaco on the 22nd and includes an exhibition at the Prince’s Palace, a parade and the Concours d’Elegance at the Place du Casino. A gala dinner held at the Hotel de Paris concludes the event.
Monaco’s National Day, celebrated on November 18 and 19, is the most exciting time to visit the Principality. Festivities include parades and fireworks over the Port Hercule harbor, various gala evenings throughout the Principality and a special performance of Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” by the Monte-Carlo Opera.
New Year’s Eve celebrations in Monaco feature free performances and concerts by some of America’s best marching bands, orchestras, and choirs. These performances take place at various locations throughout the Principality. Evenings feature New Year’s gala dinners and parties at most restaurants and venues. Festivities also include special performances by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Initiated by H.S.H Princess Grace of Monaco in 1985, Les Ballets of Monte-Carlo, perform all year long at the Opera de Monte-Carlo, as well as at famous international theaters and venues abroad. The major event of the season will be the New Year’s Eve Ballet.
