4th Saint Devota Rugby Challenge at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco

1/31/2014  Sport

The Monegasque Rugby Federation is organizing the Saint Devota Challenge, in association with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, as part of festivities for the patron saint of the Principality.

The 4th "Saint Devota Challenge" will be held on Saturday 1 February 2014 from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco.

Players from the premier team RC Toulon will be present, including the Argentinean Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe and other international rugby players from the RCT and Castres Olympique, to encourage budding players.

The prestigious trophy presented to the Champions of France, the Brennus Shield, will be on display at this event.

The aim of the tournament is to promote the values of rugby beyond just the sporting aspect.

The challenge itself, between Lucciana and Monaco, is an opportunity for young Monegasque and Corsican players to reclaim the trophy.

This year, the international-level category U11 Tournament will feature under-11 children's teams, including Corsica (Lucciana), Spain (Barcelona), Italy (Imperia, Mirano and Pro Recco) and Monaco.

Educational workshops and specially adapted circuits for young people with disabilities will also be offered (Educational Medical Institutes), for a fun introduction to the techniques of the "oval ball."

Note that these children will be supervised by the U15 (members of the Monegasque Rugby Federation of under 15 years of age), who are keen to share their passion for rugby and the values it represents.  The specialized institutions A.M.A.P.E.I., CLISS St Exupery, Monaco Disease Power, SECPA Monaco, SECPA Vento and Ulysse are also taking part in these meetings.
