An Arty Valentine's Day for the Métropole Monte-Carlo

1/23/2012  Food, palaces

From 6 February to 15 March 2012, the Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo will be celebrating love with a new artistic theme devised by Miss Rose, the hotel's florist and stylist.

A new ephemeral atmosphere

This ephemeral atmosphere was inspired by lips and kissing.  It will transport clients into the eccentric, fun, elegant and sensual world of British designers Solange Azagury-Partridge and Lulu Guinness.

Solange Azagury-Partridge is a designer of contemporary jewelry and a former creative director for Boucheron.  She will be exhibiting "Hot Lips," her famous collection of mouth-shaped opaque enameled rings.  This English designer is self-taught and is renowned for her unlikely associations.  As her work falls outside the traditional rules of jewelry design, it is often described as iconoclastic, avant-garde and anti-conformist.  The "Hot Lips" collection, a range of eight pieces of jewelry in the shape of plump lips, will be exhibited in the hotel's Salon des Princes and sold throughout the "I Kiss Métropole" theme.

An exclusive collection of handbags

The Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo is also teaming up with the equally unconventional fashion accessories designer Lulu Guinness for the occasion.  Her "Lip Clutches" collection, which is typical of her glamorous, chic, retro style, will be on show in the Lobby to clients of the hotel and its restaurants.  The collection of fourteen handbags in the shape of a mouth will allow clients to appreciate the remarkable design and voluminous, unusual shapes that are characteristic of her work.

An exclusive work by Scott Campbell

"I KISS METROPOLE" will also show an exclusive work by the American Scott Campbell.  Scott Campbell is a famous tattoo artist who is becoming increasingly sought after.  He recently worked on a men's collection for Louis Vuitton.  He lives in New York, where he is also renowned for his laser-cut stacks of one-dollar bills.

He has used this technique to produce a work especially for the Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo's special theme - it represents a mouth on a background of an American banknote.
