Forthcoming Performances by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo in 2013

The Ballets de Monte-Carlo's calendar for the first half of 2013 promises some wonderful dancing

From April to July 2013, the Ballets de Monte-Carlo are continuing to offer a varied programme of dance in Monaco, thanks to links between the Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo, Monaco Dance Forum and the Princess Grace Academy.

From 13 to 17 March 2013 – "Imprévus" ("The Unexpected") in the Studio of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo.  These performances enable the audience to experience the creative process, just a few metres away from the dancers.  For these "Unexpected" performances, Jean-Christophe Maillot has invited scenography students from the Pavillon Bosio (Monaco Art School) and dancers and young choreographers from the Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

From 25 to 28 April 2013:  the Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo will perform Choré, Jean-Christophe Maillot's latest work, at the Grimaldi Forum.  In association with the writer Jean Rouaud, scenographer Dominique Drillot and costume designer Philippe Guillotel, the choreographer steps outside the world of the great narrative ballets for a moment to devote himself to some short, abstract pieces that are still characteristic of his work and outlook.

On 16 and 17 May 2013, the Princess Grace Academy will hold its traditional end-of-year gala in the Salle Garnier at the Monte-Carlo Opera.  Students from the Academy will demonstrate a range of talents that will enable them to join a major international dance company at the end of their training.

From 5 to 8 June 2013 – The last "Imprévus"of the season and the chance to see the dancers of the Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo in five performances of Roméo et Juliette by Jean-Christophe Maillot in the Studio.

From 27 to 29 June – Monaco Dance Forum and the Grimaldi Forum are joining forces to bring a legendary dance company to Monaco – the Royal Ballet!  Exceptional dancers will present "Manon" by Kenneth MacMillan at the Grimaldi Forum, accompanied by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Martin Yates.

From 10 to 12 July 2013:  The Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo is presenting a Jean-Christophe Maillot evening, with "Shéhérazade" and "Vers un Pays Sage" ("Towards a Wise Country.")

From 17 to 19 July 2013:  The Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo at the Opéra Garnier, Monaco

The Company will be extending its repertoire with three works by Ina Christel Johannessen, Alexander Ekman and
Jeroen Verbruggen.
