Monte-Carlo SBM is Publishing a Book to Celebrate its 150th Anniversary

"150 ans Monte-Carlo SBM" ("150 Years of the Monte-Carlo SBM") is an original concept book," to be published on 30 April 2013



"150 ans" retraces Prince Charles III's vision for Monaco, which gave rise to an extraordinary adventure under the innovative leadership of one man, François Blanc.

The book contains many photos, archive material and previously unpublished texts.  The reader is drawn into the history of the Société, its close links with the economic development of the Principality, its role as a property developer in the urbanization and expansion of Monte-Carlo and as a sponsor of notable artistic events.

Designed as a "concept book" and published as a limited edition by the publisher Histoire d’Entreprises, it is not just a history book, but also a book about culture.  This major work to mark the 150th anniversary of the Monte-Carlo SBM recounts the entrepreneurial adventures of its founder, François Blanc.

The book also gives pride of place to the great figures who made their mark on the history of Monte-Carlo, such as the beautiful Otero;  Winston Churchill; Colette;  Sarah Bernhardt;  Coco Chanel and Josephine Baker.

It also depicts the heritage, in the broadest sense, that was fostered by the SBM – the arts in general, architecture, music and cinema in particular, as well as the history of various trades and a look behind the scenes of the company.
