The Ballets de Monte-Carlo – Program from 16 to 19 July 2014

6/6/2014  Shows

The Ballets de Monte-Carlo present "Summer Dances!" ("l’été Danse !") at the Salle Garnier – a summer program characterized by aesthetic dances that are full of emotion.

From 16 to 19 July 2014, audiences can enjoy an evening of three works.

The evening will open with "New Sleep," a major work by William Forsythe, which pushes classical dance in a symmetrical, orthogonal direction.  The choreography of this work stands out for being both rigorous and sensual.

This will be followed by Marco Goecke's work "Sigh."  The Company's dancers express the meaning of this work through visibility, mystery and rapid movements, with a particular focus on the use of the décor.

The evening will close with "Petite Mort" ("Little Death") by Jiri Kylian.  This work is regarded as a masterpiece in the history of dance because of its very strong symbolism, in which aggression, sexuality, energy, silence and cultivated absurdity are intermingled.
