The Ballets de Monte-Carlo - Forthcoming Dates in Monaco for the First Six Months of 2014

Following the success of "Casse-Noisette Compagnie," ("Nutcracker Company") the Ballets are offering an excellent programme

In February, "La Belle" by Jean-Christophe Maillot is being shown as a rehearsal at the second "Imprévu" ("The Unexpected") at the Atelier des Ballets de Monte-Carlo.  The audience will be just a few feet away from the dancers and ballet masters and in direct contact with the artistic world of the choreographer and Director of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

4, 5 and 6 February 2014 - Atelier des Ballets de Monte-Carlo

In April, the Monaco Dance Forum has invited the Ballet of the Grand Théâtre in Geneva to perform on stage at the Grimaldi Forum.  The show will consist of two powerful choreographies, where music and dance are intermingled.

Jirí Kylián will then be the guest of the Monaco Dance Forum and will offer a European preview of "East Shadow."  This work was commissioned as part of the 2013 Aichi Triennale in Japan (on the theme of the Fukushima catastrophe in 2011) and will transport the audience to the unsettling world of Samuel Beckett.

Finally, Jean-Christophe Maillot offers the Company's dancers an opportunity to be on the other side of the stage at the Young Choreographers' show, the last "Imprévu" of the season.  The works have been created in association with scenography students from the Pavillon Bosio – City of Monaco Art School.

15, 16, 17 and 18 April 2014 – Grimaldi Forum

The Princess Grace Academy will reach a new milestone at its Gala in June this year.  The dancers will perform classical and contemporary pieces and will be accompanied by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra in the Salle Garnier at the Opera.

18 and 19 June 2014 – Monte-Carlo Opera
Show by the Princess Grace Academy

This year, in July, "L’été danse !" ("Summer is Dancing!") is returning to the Garnier with a very ambitious summer programme.

In one evening, the dancers of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo will perform "New Sleep," which is considered a breathtaking example of Forsythe's work of the 80s, followed by a piece by Marco Goecke.  The physicality and energy his ballets demand have found a perfect partnership in the Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

Finally, the Company will perform "Petite Mort" ("Little Death") by Jirí Kylián, a masterpiece that has become part of the legend of dance and has helped to establish this Czech artist as one of the greatest choreographers.

"L’été Danse !" will close with "Choré" by Jean-Christophe Maillot.  This ballet explores the multifaceted world of American musicals and is a moving reflection on the place dance can occupy in a world that is less and less rational.

From 16 to 19 July 2014 – Monte-Carlo Opera
