Two New Productions at the Monte-Carlo Opera

The Monte-Carlo Opera is presenting two tragedies, "Tragédie Florentine"("A Florentine Tragedy") & "Pagliacci" on 19, 22, 25 and 28 February 2015

In February, there will be four performances of two new tragedies directed by Daniel Benoin and Allex Aguilera "Tragédie Florentine"("A Florentine Tragedy") and "Pagliacci."

Composed by Alexander von Zemlinsky and based on a poetic drama by Oscar Wilde, the opera "Tragédie Florentine" condenses a very unusual love triangle between a prince of Florence, a merchant and his wife, played by Zoran Todorovich, Samuel Youn and Barbara Haveman, into a single Act.

As regards the second opera, Ruggero Leoncavallo threw himself wholeheartedly into composing a drama on the subject of jealousy among circus folk (Marcelo Alvarez, Maria Josè Siri, Leo Nucci, Enrico Casari and ZhengZhong Zhou),resulting in "Pagliacci."
