MONACO, 20 SEPTEMBER 2017 – AMPA is organising four free events in Monaco to raise public awareness of Alzheimer's
On 20 September 2017, for World Alzheimer's Day 2017, the Monegasque Association for Research into Alzheimer's Disease (AMPA), presided over by Catherine Pastor, is organising four free events for all ages to raise public awareness in Monaco of Alzheimer's Disease.
World Alzheimer's Day is an international awareness-raising day to inform the public of the effects of Alzheimer's Disease. AMPA has celebrated this day every year since 2010, in close collaboration with the Prince's Government and Monaco City Hall's Social Services Department and in partnership with the Monegasque gerontology sector. For World Alzheimer's Day 2017, no less than four events are planned for Monaco!
- 2nd "Aging Well in Monaco" Village
From 10.30 a.m. – Espace Léo Ferré – Fontvieille
Building on its success last year, the "Aging Well in Monaco" Village is expanding. This year, it will take place at the Espace Léo Ferré in Fontvieille on 20 September 2017 from 10.30 a.m. This information day, in the form of a fair with twenty or so stands, is the only day offering information and advice on existing facilities in the Principality to promote aging well in Monaco and prevent the loss of autonomy. Activities are also offered. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk to representatives from the facilities and services available, learn more about activities and products that can improve health, well-being, comfort and quality of life, and meet with Monegasque associations, which are always looking for new members and volunteers!
Free demonstrations, open to children and adults, will take place throughout the day, including Tai Chi, yoga, dance and nutritional advice. All visitors will be offered a gourmet tasting by chef Joël Garault from the "Monaco Taste and Flavours" association - a convivial moment of sharing for the whole family!
From 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Louis II Stadium - Fontvieille
Every year, the Alzheimer's walk is an opportunity to involve the Monegasque population in this cause, in partnership with Department of Education, Youth and Sport.
This 8th intergenerational walk will take place at the Louis II Stadium in Fontvieille on 20 September 2017 from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with secondary school children from Monaco. A GIANT ZUMBA SESSION will be offered by Sunshine Fitness Monaco, to the sound of maracas!
The aim of this walk is to encourage solidarity and promote daily physical activity.
- AMPA's Public Conferences
Every year, for a better understanding of Alzheimer's Disease and its effects, AMPA organises a Public Conference.
Entitled "Is the Alzheimer Patient's Experience of the World Accessible to Us?", this year's theme will offer a better understanding of what a person with Alzheimer's disease is feeling and experiencing.
This conference, by Prof. Alain Pesce and his team, will also include a presentation of the activities of the Rainier III Centre of Monaco's Princess Grace Hospital. It will be held on 20 September 2017 from 5.30 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. in the Auditorium of Monaco's Vocational and Catering School in Monte-Carlo.
To bring World Alzheimer's Day 2017 to a close in Monaco, AMPA invites you to a special free screening of the film "STILL ALICE" on 22 September 2017, from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. at the Princess Grace Theatre, with Julianne Moore, who was awarded an Oscar for best actress in 2015.
The film screening will be followed by a debate with Prof. Alain Pesce from the Rainier III Centre of the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco.
