The Monte-Carlo Ballet Company's December Programme

The Monte-Carlo Ballet Company has announced its programme of performances in Monaco for the last quarter of 2012

The Monte-Carlo Ballet now includes the Monte-Carlo Ballet Company, Monaco Dance Forum and the Princess Grace Dance Academy within one overall structure.

Jean-Christophe Maillot is now responsible for new works, training and public dance performances.  These three aspects are now keywords for dance in Monaco

The programme of performances in Monaco:

13 December 2012:  As part of the Monaco Dance Forum, three dancers from the Company, Mimoza Koike, Julien Guérin and Bruno Roque, will create a show for students of the Academy.  This will put one of the school's main educational aims into practice – maintaining the quality of classic teaching while opening up to all kinds of influences from modern dance.

From 13 to 23 December 2012:  The Monaco Dance Forum festival will begin with the work "Hans was Heiri" by Zimmermann and De Perrot.

Juana d’Eric Oberdorff will bring seven women together on stage who are all completely different, yet strangely similar.

The Festival will once again host the Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal, in a repeat performance of "The Window Cleaner" ("Der Fensterputzer").

For a young audience, George Momboye is offering "Poulet Bicyclette" ("Chicken Bicycle"), a dance performance for "ages 6 to 106."

The Systeme Castafiore will present its solo "Les Chants de l’Umai" ("The Songs of the Umai").

Another highlight of the programme is a performance of Maguy Marin's "Salves" in Monaco, a major choreographic work by one of the great names in dance.

Finally, the Monte-Carlo Ballet Company will be taking part in the Festival with a programme of three Nordic-inspired ballets.  The acclaimed Norwegian choreographer Ina Christel Johannessen will be back with a work specially written for the company, as will Alexander Ekman, a young Swedish choreographer known for his sense of rhythm, energy and parody.

Jean-Christophe Maillot will stage "Vers un Pays Sage" ("Towards a Wise Country") again.

From 29 December 2012 to 3 January 2013:
The Monte-Carlo Ballet Company at the Grimaldi Forum
LAC, the latest of the great narrative ballets for which Jean-Christophe Maillot is so renowned, was a resounding success in 2011.
It is set to rank among the works that have achieved worldwide success and have helped to build the Company's reputation. It will be performed again in Monaco before going on tour.
