"Monaco Zero Cigarette Butts" Initiative

Publication date: 23/07/2021
The "Monaco Zero Cigarette Butts" initiative is back for summer 2021 !

As every year, the Tourist and Convention Authority (DTC) is joining forces with Monaco City Hall and Société Monégasque d'Assainissement (SMA) to raise awareness among residents and tourists about the environmental pollution caused by cigarette butts.

Following the decision by the Prince's Government to make beaches non-smoking zones during the summer season, a new format has been adopted: pocket ashtrays are distributed by staff from SMA and the Tourist and Convention Authority at the reception desks of some offices, in the Larvotto, Monaco-Ville and Fontvieille districts.

These ashtrays, which carry the "Monaco 0 Cigarette Butts" logo, are also available from municipal buildings open to the public and from retailers in the Larvotto district.

This initiative, which extends beyond seaside areas, is designed to raise awareness more widely about the need to keep the Principality clean, and to continue to highlight the environmental impact of cigarette butts.
