Dance Takes Centre Stage in Monaco in December

Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, the Monaco Dance Forum and the Princess Grace Dance Academy present the fruits of their work

13 December 2012 – the Princess Grace Dance Academy at the Grimaldi Forum

The Princess Grace Dance Academy, directed by Luca Masala, will open a busy period of performances in December with a programme illustrating this complementarity.  As part of the Monaco Dance Forum, dancers from the company, Mimoza Koike, Julien Guérin and Bruno Roque, will create a performance for students of the Academy that, apart from anything else, will affirm one of the major educational aims of this school – maintaining the quality of classic teaching while opening up to all kinds of influences from modern dance.

From 13 to 23 December 2012 - Monaco Dance Forum at the Grimaldi Forum

This year, Monaco Dance Forum will play host to shows that reflect Jean-Christophe Maillot wish to raise the audience's awareness of all types of dance.  The Festival's programme will open with the work Hans was Heiri by Zimmermann and De Perrot.  These two directors, who are accompanied by five circus artists and dancers, are enjoying dazzling success at present.

Juan, by Eric Oberdorff, will bring seven very different, but strangely similar women together on stage.  The Festival will once again welcome the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch for a repeat of her Der Fensterputze (The Window Cleaner) and George Momboye is offering Poulet Bicyclette (Chicken Bicycle), a choreographic performance for six- to 106-year-olds.

Another highlight of the programme - Maguy Marin is presenting Salves, a major work choreographed by a great name in dance.

Finally, Jean-Christophe Maillot, will be staging Vers un Pays Sage (Towards a Wise Country) again.

From 29 December 2012 to 3 January 2013 - The Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo at the Grimaldi Forum

LAC is the latest of the great narrative ballets for which Jean-Christophe Maillot is so renowned, and was a resounding success in 2011.
