Monte-Carlo Television Festival

THE COMPETITION

At the heart of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, whose Honorary Presidency has been held by H.S. H. Prince Albert II since 1988, the Golden Nymph Competition presents the public, the press and professionals with an international selection of previously unseen programmes. It is divided into three official categories: Fiction, Documentaries & News and the Prince Rainier III Special Prize .
Created by Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Prince Rainier III Prize is awarded in partnership with the Prince Albert II Foundation to the documentary that best addresses environmental issues.
The competition is completed by two Special Prizes, awarded by partner organisations whose winners are selected from all the programmes entered in the Golden Nymphs competition.

  • The Monegasque Red Cross Prize for the documentary that best highlights one or more principles of international humanitarian law.
  • The AMADE Prize is awarded to a television programme that highlights one of the missions of AMADE (Association Mondiale des Amis de l'Enfance): the protection of the most vulnerable children against violence, exploitation or abuse, access to education and access to health.

BACK TO THE FESTIVAL'S BEGINNINGS...

In 1961, as a tribute to his wife Princess Grace, a former actress and Hollywood star, Prince Rainier III created what was to become THE meeting place for the television industry.
For this first edition, Marcel Pagnol chaired the jury.

Since then, the world's stars and major industry players from all over the world have come together every year for a variety of events: series launches, preview screenings, conferences, VIP meetings, autograph sessions... an unmissable experience for fans and professionals alike.
