Monaco's institutional heritage
The National Council
Inaugurated in 2012, the headquarters of the National Council, the work of Monegasque architect Jean-Michel Ughes, is distinguished by its white, transparent façade, a symbol of open democracy. The text of the Constitution appears engraved on its large glass windows. With its 3,640 m2 spread over four floors, this building offers elected representatives a working environment that is both modern and totally rooted in Monaco's architectural identity. The building opens its doors to the public during the European Heritage Days, allowing visitors to discover the hemicycle, the Prince Albert I library, the offices of the elected representatives and the panoramic terrace.

The Palace of Justice
Located in the immediate vicinity of Monaco's Notre-Dame-Immaculée Cathedral, the Palais de Justice catches the eye of visitors with its elaborate façade and symmetrical double staircase. Built between 1924 and 1930 on the personal initiative of H.S.H. Prince Louis II, the building is made of marine tufa, a porous stone that gives it its distinctive appearance. Although it cannot be visited, it is one of the buildings you should see when strolling around the Rock.
