The Responsible Visitor Route
I use Visit Monaco's carbon calculator to assess my impact
To make informed choices and find out more about the carbon footprint of your trip, the calculator created by Visit Monaco is the ideal tool for estimating the impact of your stay and finding out about alternative solutions to reduce it.
Did you know? The Tourism and Convention Authority has also set up a calculator for event organisers which suggests ways of reducing the carbon footprint of the events sector.
I choose a low-carbon mode of transport
Transport is often the element that emits the most greenhouse gases during a stay. As far as possible, choose a low-carbon means of transport.
Did you know? A 700 km economy class flight, similar to the distance from Paris to Monaco, emits 40 times more than the same journey by TGV. If we compare it with a private jet, the footprint is more than 200 times greater than with the train.
I choose a committed hotel
More and more establishments are seeking certification and implementing practical solutions to reduce their ecological impact.
Did you know? In Monaco, 88% of hotel rooms are certified (Green Globe, Green Key and Planet 21) and 97% are signatories to the National Pact for Energy Transition.
I prefer soft mobility
For bicycle enthusiasts, Monabike is the bike hire system and Mobee the electric vehicle version! Monaco is "walking distance" and several solutions are mentioned on apps such as: Monaco Malin or City Mapper.
Did you know? 79 lifts, 35 escalators and 8 travelators make it easy to get from A to B on foot!
I opt for responsible gastronomy
From Michelin-starred restaurants to brasseries, the catering industry is committed to sustainable development and gives priority to organic, local and seasonal produce.
Did you know? The "Restaurant Engagé" label is awarded to restaurants that work on a daily basis to reduce and sort waste, save resources, combat food waste and raise customer awareness.
Discovering Monaco's biodiversity
Explore our many gardens and parks. Managed in an eco-responsible way, they all have their own special character and a very different atmosphere! Take the Heritage Tree Trail or the Biodiversity Trail in the Jardins Saint Martin.
Did you know? 20% of the territory is covered by green spaces. Monaco has three marine protected areas, including an educational marine reserve.
Even on holiday, I continue to reduce and sort my waste
Because the best waste is the waste we don't produce, the idea is to reduce it at source.
Did you know that to avoid consuming plastic, it's best to use a water bottle that you can fill from one of Monaco's many drinking fountains ?
