Princess Grace Irish Library
A prestigious library in the heart of Monaco
Created in 1984 by Prince Rainier III, the Princess Grace Irish Library showcases the personal collection of Princess Grace. As the granddaughter of an Irish family, she accumulated numerous cultural objects linked to the country's culture: novels, poetry, manuscripts, sheet music... so many rare items that make up the collection of this place devoted to the reading of English-language texts.
A rich cultural program
With annual themes (the Irish diaspora and its cultural impact, for example) and recurring events ( St. Patrick's Day, but also "Bloomsday" in homage to James Joyce's novel Ulysses), the Princess Grace Irish Library organizes events all year round. Concerts, screenings, theatrical performances and lectures... the library invites its visitors to a wide range of events.
To read, to visit
10-minute tours of the Princess Grace Irish Library are organized by the staff of the cultural institution. A way to immerse yourself in the hushed atmosphere of the Monegasque Hotel that houses the library, as you stroll through the salons decorated with books and princely portraits. The visit ends with a viewing of the documentary Her Name was Grace Kelly, which looks back on the multiple roles of the Princess, who was at once film star, philanthropist, young girl, mother and wife.
Closed on Saturdays and Sundays, in August and between December 25 and January 1.
Free admission
