This prestigious ceremony pays tribute to the greatest champions in the history of football by awarding them unique international distinctions. These trophies, awarded only once in the course of a career, recognise players aged 27 or over who stand out for their outstanding performances, both individually and as a team, as well as football executives recognised for their professional merits.

The awards are presented in several categories: Golden Foot Winner (Men's and Women's), Golden Foot Legends and Golden Foot Prestige. Each winner then has the honour of having his or her foot or handprints placed on the famous Promenade des Champions in Monaco, a timeless symbol of glory and recognition.

In 2022, to mark the 20ᵉ anniversary of Golden Foot, an exceptional prize - the "Golden Foot Honor" - was created in tribute to the Sovereign Prince, who himself affixed his footprints, testifying to his unwavering support for the event since its inception.
