The princely family’s legendary cars

This exhibition allows visitors to step back in time and relive the history of the princely family. On display are unique items such as the Chrysler specially imported from the United States by Rainier III to collect Princess Grace from the harbour. Visitors can also admire the Lexus with a glass rear cabin, commissioned for the royal wedding of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and H.S.H. Princess Charlène in 2011.

Monegasque racing cars

A veritable temple to automotive prestige, the museum brings together iconic racing models: rally cars that have distinguished themselves in the Paris-Dakar or the Monte Carlo Rally sit alongside F1 single-seaters from the Monaco Grand Prix. Ferrari, Lotus, Mercedes, McLaren… these cars have shaped the legend of motor racing.

An exhibition dedicated to the evolution of the automobile in Monaco

To mark the temporary exhibition ‘From Yesterday to Today: the evolution of the car from generation to generation’, running from 22 June to 13 September 2026, the Collection of Cars of H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco invites visitors to delve deeper into automotive history. From iconic models to contemporary designs, this exhibition highlights the evolution of usage, design and technology that have shaped the car through the ages. Located in the heart of Port Hercule, the Collection offers a fascinating journey through automotive heritage, classic cars, innovation and motor sport in Monaco, at a must-visit destination for enthusiasts and families alike who are keen to discover the Principality’s mechanical heritage.

A story of enthusiasts

In the late 1950s, Rainier III, a car enthusiast, began his collection of classic cars. Over the years, as he made further acquisitions, the collection grew. After more than forty years of gathering and restoring his hundred or so vehicles, the garage at the Prince's Palace proved too small to house his fleet: superb cars with monumental or sporty silhouettes, majestic bodywork, gleaming bonnets and regal grilles! It was in 1993 that Rainier III decided to unveil his treasures to the public. Prince Albert II has continued to expand the private collection.
