A Free Port for Monaco

Publication date: 20/06/2013
A new storage facility for works of art, with a total suspension of duties and taxes for an unlimited period

The Prince's Government wished to provide the Principality with a free port.

The free port is situated in the Fontvieille district.  In line with the Government's wishes, it is highly secure and offers confidential storage for bonded goods, in ideal conditions, including temperature and humidity control.

A specially equipped expert appraisal area is also available to clients, for presenting works of art.

In addition to a storage facility, the free port offers various other services (including handling, presentation, opening, and reconditioning) without the need to pay customs duties and taxes.

Items may be moved from the free port throughout the EU on a temporary basis (with a suspension of duties and taxes) for specific reasons:

• Auctions
• Exhibitions
• Restoration
• Valuation

The management of this warehouse has been entrusted to the Société d'Exploitation et de Gestion des Entrepôts de Monaco (S.E.G.E.M).

MMCI (Mathez Monaco International), a freight forwarder in Monaco approved by the customs authority, has delegated authority to move goods into and out of this warehouse under its own name.
