After the 2020 race was cancelled, Monaco hosted three Grands Prix in 2021... and is set to do so again this year!
The Principality is back in pole position in 2022, once again preparing to host no fewer than three Grands Prix meetings: the 5th Monaco E-Prix on 30 April, the 13th Grand Prix Historique from 13 to 15 May, and the 79th Formula 1 Grand Prix from 26 to 29 May. One of the biggest challenges involved in hosting three major events of this scale in succession is putting the installations in place.
This process began in early March, a month ahead of the electric race. The transformation has been taking place slowly but surely, with locals and visitors to Monaco gradually discovering the shape of a genuine motor racing circuit. But setting up a city circuit requires a number of special measures to be taken, such as the annual resurfacing campaign. Every year, the Department of Urban Amenities carries out resurfacing work on part of the circuit, for the benefit of the cars that rocket through the city at speeds of 300 km/h.
In addition to the grandstands, set up all along the starting grid on Place du Casino, via the famous grandstand K at Port Hercule, and the asphalt ready to host Charles Leclerc and co', other preparatory work is also vital. Such as installing the necessary safety infrastructures, as well as the television cameras and advertising, and special access for spectators. Fans who, every year, flock to the Principality to witness one of the world's truly unique sporting spectacles.
