Monaco kicks off the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc!
The three Rallies in January, the three Grands Prix in May before hosting the Africa Eco Race in December... motor sport in Monaco has been part of the Principality's DNA for more than a century, and is a multi-faceted activity throughout the year!
The calendar has been rolling for several years, and now includes the start of the famous Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc. An idyll between the Principality and motor racing that makes sense in more ways than one.
The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc is above all a human adventure that brings together women from all over the world in the heart of the Moroccan Sahara. It's an epic journey with an ambitious CSR programme focused on empowering women and respecting the countries it crosses.
And there's no question of the 10,600 women taking part using new technologies to find their way from Monaco to the beach at Essaouira - the finishing point: since the event was first held in 1990, the competitors have not been using GPS and have had to rely on old-fashioned off-road navigation.
Teams will be meeting in the start village at Espace Fontvieille. Curious onlookers will be able to meet them and immerse themselves in the world of the Gazelles! There will be plenty of entertainment throughout the day, right up to the kick-off given by H.S.H. Prince Albert II at 2.15pm.
And for this 33rd edition, starting in the Principality, a 100% Monegasque team made up of Céline Cottalorda and Sylvie Bertrand will be flying the country's colours in the 4X4/truck category. As they say in Monegasque: Daghe*!
*Come on!
