Osaka World Expo: what does the Monaco Pavilion look like?
1873, Universal Exhibition in Vienna. Under the reign of Prince Charles III, the Principality took part for the first time in these international events held in the world's major cities.
World Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai is being held under the general theme "Designing the society of the future, Imagining our life tomorrow", with the Principality opting for the "Connecting lives" angle. Comprising several buildings, the Pavilion is surrounded by a garden and highlights the Principality's environmental commitments.
But what can visitors see?
- An immersive, interactive space where touch, image and poetry come together. Large vertical windows display evocative images of Monaco, including haiku poems.
- the Monaco Green Lab, where a tree stands surrounded by Monaco's ecosystem, embodying the Principality's commitment to sustainable development. Interactive consoles for discovering innovative eco-responsible projects and animated books bring to life the visions of Prince Albert I and H.S.H. Prince Albert II.
- an immersive garden, a harmonious blend of Japanese and Mediterranean landscapes, featuring the Human-Wildlife installation, a playful and stimulating experience
- the Flowers for Bees installation, a space inspired by beehives, where you can become fascinated by these insects and discover how Monaco is taking action to protect them
- finally, the Cathedral: a tribute to the seas and oceans, where the marine species of the Mediterranean come to life on screens reflecting a magical atmosphere of lights, colors and floating shapes.
Monaco Day
One of the highlights of the Expo? Monaco Day! Held on site on June 28, it will bring together a delegation of official personalities, the Carabiniers Orchestra and the Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo. A soccer match will also be organized on June 27 between the Monaco Barbagiuans and the Japan All Star Team. The Monaco team will feature some of the biggest names in the game, including Robert Pirès, Ludovic Giuly, Rivaldo and Marcel Desailly. The Japan All Star Team, meanwhile, will feature Japanese soccer stars such as Daisuke Matsui, Hidetoshi Nakata and Keisuke Honda.
This embodiment of the spirit of Monaco is passionately supported by 13 young people from the Principality, aged between 21 and 27, who bring this showcase of excellence to life. 28 million visitors are expected over this six-month period!
