Spotlight on the Monte-Carlo Rally!
This is a motor race eagerly awaited by rally fans – and many others besides! Firstly, because it is the opening round of the World Rally Championship (WRC) following the conclusion of the 2023 season on the roads of Japan last November. But the ‘Monte-Carl’, with its history and legendary status, makes it a rally in a class of its own, appealing not just to motor racing enthusiasts.
You’ll be able to get up close to these racing cars on Thursday from 4.30 pm at the Place du Casino for a spectacle that’s truly unique in the world, before Sébastien Ogier and his fellow drivers set off for the mountains and legendary passes of the hinterland for an exclusively night-time first leg.
On the drivers’ itinerary: 14 mountain passes to tackle across 17 special stages spread across five French departments. A gruelling route that will conclude with a final stage at the Col de Turini, a legendary section of the Monte-Carlo Rally and one of the most iconic in the sport.
This year, the organisers have tweaked the route slightly, taking it higher up in the hope of even more snow than in previous editions. This should guarantee an even more spectacular show than ever!
Eight-time world champion, Frenchman and local favourite Sébastien Ogier is once again the favourite and will be aiming for a tenth victory in the event. But Belgium’s Thierry Neuville, winner in 2020, will do everything in his power to lift the trophy in front of the Casino de Monte-Carlo.
A prize-giving ceremony like no other, taking place on Sunday 28th from 4.15 pm. So, are you ready for the 92nd Monte-Carlo Rally?
