THE "MUST-SEES" FOR FAMILY VISITS AND ACTIVITIES:

Jardin Animalier Rainier III and its 300 or so animals of around sixty different species (birds, tortoises, hippos...) will be your wild oasis in the heart of the sparkling Principality. Your children will be able to enjoy the close proximity of some of the specimens and take advantage of a play area inside the park.

The Exotic Garden Botanical Centre houses the largest collections of cacti and succulents in the world, with over 10,500 plants, almost 85% of which are protected. A great place to escape and discover with the whole family.

he changing of the guard, carried out every day at 11.55am on the Place du Palais by the Prince's riflemen, is a solemn ritual not to be missed during your stay in the Principality. Take advantage of this moment to admire the two viewpoints, to the right and left of the Palace, which offer magnificent panoramic views over the Port of Fontvieille and Port Hercule.

Atthe Collection des Voitures de S.A.S. le Prince de Monaco (Collection of the Cars of H.S.H. the Prince of Monaco), take a stroll through one hundred legendary cars that have left their mark on their time and on the history of the princely family.

Play areas near the many parks and gardens.

Parc Princesse Antoinette, located in the Jardin Exotique district, offers great play areas with a multi-sports pitch, playgrounds, table tennis tables, a mini farm with goats, rabbits and chickens and its 18-hole clay mini-golf course.

Add some fun to your city breaks! Explore Monaco in a different way by using its own means of transport:

  • Monaco le Grand Tour, this red double-decker bus will take you past the Principality's iconic sites. You can hop on and off at its many stops, allowing you to enjoy the different sites at your own pace.
  • Bateau Bus offers you a short trip among the yachts, linking Port Hercule from one end to the other. A chance to see Monaco from a different angle.
  • Monaco Tours is a classic! The city tour on the little train is always a hit with the little ones, and gives parents a moment's respite. The tour starts and finishes opposite the Oceanographic Museum.

Captain Game

Captain'Game! This fun outdoor tour is designed to raise public awareness of the environment while uncovering the secrets of the site. With family or friends, this original trail allows you to (re)discover the Fontvieille district and its port along a 2.5km path with 10 markers to find and answers to punch in.

Monaco Museum of Anthropology

Take a step back in time and see the Lascaux cave as if you were there with the Musée d'Anthropologie de Monaco's temporary exhibition "Lascaux in Monaco", on show from 19 April to 21 November 2024. The programme includes an exceptional immersive experience thanks to an original scenography based on facsimiles and the use of virtual reality, hyper-realistic reconstructions of Cro-Magnon, a 1/10th scale model of the cave and much more. For young visitors, 2 workshops will delight their archaeological souls from 2pm to 3.30pm:

  • Tuesday 26 April (ages 5 to 6) - "THE HISTORY OF PREHISTORIC ANIMALS" / "PREHISTORIC POTTERY".
  • Tuesday 30 April (from age 7) - "ROLE PLAY" / "FIRE LIGHTING".

  • 1st workshop: "Traces of the garden": Monday 22 to Wednesday 24 April (6-9 years) from 2pm to 4pm. On the programme: discovery of the gardens of Villa Sauber, study of plant traces and imprints for an "explorer's notebook" workshop.
  • 2nd course: "Behind the scenes at the museum": Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 April (4 to 8 year olds) - 2pm - 4pm or Thursday 2 and Friday 3 May (8 to 12 year olds) - 2pm - 4.30pm. Programme: Using fabrics, embroidery, headdresses and accessories from the Monte-Carlo Opera costume collection, children will discover "the travelling collection".

Oceanographic Museum

The Oceanographic Museum is a must-see when visiting the Principality, so don't miss out!

Les Géants des Glaces" by Michel Bassompierre, who is exhibiting his monumental sculptures featuring polar bears and emperor penguins. With this exhibition, the Oceanographic Museum and the artist hope to move visitors and raise their awareness of the major issues facing the polar regions (available from 10/04 to 06/10/2024).

The Prince and the Mediterranean", launched as part of the centenary celebrations for Prince Rainier III, highlights the indefectible link between the Prince and the ocean, and the Mediterranean in particular.

Mission Polaire" remains open until January 2025. A 5-stage immersion experience awaits you in the heart of the Arctic and Antarctic, thanks in particular to the "Immersion" room, which offers 650m² of interactive projection for the total amazement of the youngest visitors.

  • In addition to these 3 refreshing exhibitions, the museum also offers:

  • ImmerSEAve 360° for an exploration of the marine world equipped with virtual reality helmets,
  • aquariums in 4 atmospheres, from the Mediterranean to the tropical seas.
  • Oceanomania", the largest cabinet of curiosities in the marine world.
  • Animals by the sea": with family or friends, experience a magical encounter with the animals of the Mediterranean coast. We're all familiar with them, but do you really know what makes them special? Young and old, let your senses guide you as you discover the special characteristics of each marine species (duration: 30 min, only during school holidays).
  • Club Oceano", during the school holidays, welcomes your budding explorers for a whole week! This discovery course is the ideal opportunity to awaken your children's curiosity, increase their thirst for discovery and spark off future passions and vocations.

Théâtre des Muses

Don't improvise your holidays! Give your children the chance to burn up the stage at the Théâtre des Muses, which offers improvisation courses on the theme of "Youthful Heroes". On the programme: theatrical improvisation (solo, duo or group), fun warm-up exercises, spontaneous acting, developing the imagination, working on emotions and much more, all in a friendly atmosphere. Your artists will give you a short performance at the end of the course. Perhaps the discovery of a new talent?

Monaco's multimedia library offers a wide range of activities to delight young audiences. On the programme:

Join us at the Vidéothèque Sonothèque for a lunch break in front of a concert. Don't forget your packed lunch! Take to the stars with Salim and enter the world of astronomy with Naos, the star-gatherer.

Haiku on pebbles (for over 7s and open to parents), April 24, 10am to 11.30am

Put yourself on Japanese time and try your hand at reading and writing haiku, short collaborative poems from traditional Japanese literature. The workshop will cover several aspects of the construction of this type of poem, all in a playful setting conducive to creative awakening. The choice of pebbles as the medium recalls one of the pillars of haiku, namely communion with the environment.

Water activities are back!

Stade Nautique Rainier III (from 29 April). Its Olympic dimensions, heated and filtered seawater, waterslide and views of Port Hercule, the Rocher and the F1 circuit make it a must-do. The Principality's other open-air Olympic swimming pool will also be ready to welcome your finest dives at the Monte-Carlo Beach hotel, nestling between the pine forest and the Mediterranean Sea. At the beginning of May, the more sporty can try their hand at water sports from the thermal base at theMonte-Carlo Bay hotel (motorised activities, jet-skiing, parasailing, etc.).
