What is there to do in Monaco in February?

It’s the season of love…

February means Valentine’s Day! The perfect opportunity to stay in the Principality for a romantic getaway , an intimate celebration and a cosy break for two.

There’s sport on the cards!

In Monaco, there are sporting events to enjoy all year round. On the football front, AS Monaco Football Club travels to Paris Saint-Germain on Friday 7 February before hosting the legendary Benfica Lisbon on Tuesday 11 February in the Champions League play-offs and welcoming Nantes on the weekend of 16 February.

In basketball, AS Monaco Basket will play back-to-back home games in the Euroleague, on Wednesday 5th against Baskonia and on Friday 7th against Partizan Belgrade.

Quite a programme… The cream of European sport on the basketball court and the football pitch!

To get you moving, the Principality and its athletics federation are organising the Monaco Run 2025 over the weekend of 8–9 February. A wide range of running events will allow participants to take to the streets of Monaco, from a 5km route through the territory’s iconic landmarks to a 30km trail run in the heart of a natural environment with extraordinary views.

And since, in Monaco, sport is a vehicle for peace and the promotion of CORE VALUES, the Pink Ribbon Walk will take place on Sunday 9 February at 10.15 am: a meaningful walk aimed at raising awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

Culture in all its forms

Culture is not to be outdone! Opera lovers will have the choice between a recital by one of France’s greatest tenors, Benjamin Bernheim, who will perform on 9 February, and *Das Rheingold*, an opera by Richard Wagner, with performances on 19, 21, 23 and 25 February.

The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra , meanwhile, is offering a tribute to Ravel in a symphonic concert on 9 February, a musical happy hour on 18 February and a piano recital by Christian Zacharias on 28 February.

Comedy fans will prefer to head to Le Méridien Beach Plaza. With its Belgian brasserie Smakelijk , the hotel is hosting stand-up comedy evenings. The shows on 14 and 15 February are sure to delight audiences, thanks in particular to Alex Vizorek. This stalwart of the Belgian comedy scene, well known to French audiences, will share the stage with Thomas Sii and Adrien Montowski.

Music lovers take note: New Moods brings the Monegasque nights to life all year round. What’s on the programme for February? A performance by Uptown Lovers, tributes to Michael Jackson, The Who, the Bee Gees, The Police and The Eagles… not to mention a Monte-Carlo Talents Night showcasing the local scene.

More music, this time at the Grimaldi Forum : the famous Thursday Live Sessions will take place on 20 February with Dead Chic, a Franco-British band that seamlessly blends heavy rock and soul.

And on the stage? The Théâtre Princesse Grace has three events in February: a screening of Alain Resnais’s “Mélo” on 4 February, Sébastien Azzopardi’s “Ma version de l’histoire” on 20 February, and “Pauvre Bitos ! ou le diner de têtes ”, a dark comedy by Jean Anouilh on 25 February.

Fancy a quick bite to eat so you can make the most of your time exploring the Principality? Anthony Orengo and William Scheffer – creators of Monte-Carlo Beer and Daghe drinks – have launched Wam , a modern sandwich bar showcasing local and seasonal produce. The focus is on the freshness and quality of the ingredients, with options to suit all tastes, from the most classic to the most creative. Also in the Monte-Carlo district:  Dean & Deluca , the high-end gourmet brand present in 77 countries worldwide, is opening its first European outlet at the Métropole Shopping Centre in Monaco , on the first floor, in the former Modes'Tea premises. This new outlet offers a wide selection of products, ranging from food specialities to luxury goods. The elegant and refined space offers continuous service, allowing customers to enjoy quality products at any time of day, whether for a takeaway meal or a gourmet experience in-store.

February with the children

School holidays are always a great opportunity to enjoy unique family experiences.

Fancy a dip in the Mediterranean? The Oceanographic Museum offers a virtual dive into the deep blue sea. Parents and children are kitted out with state-of-the-art virtual reality headsets to set off on a journey of discovery through a Marine Protected Area. Or how to learn whilst having fun! An activity available only during the school holidays.

The Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology also places great emphasis on fun learning for the whole family. This museum invites you to travel back in time to explore the fascinating lives of prehistoric people through immersive and interactive activities.

Fancy taking to the stage? The Théâtre des Muses has something for children, offering improvisation workshops during the holidays based on the theme of Carnival. Starting with a costume of their choice, budding actors can create and bring their characters to life, before putting on a show for parents and friends at the end of the course!

Regional Council

Every February, the Côte d’Azur comes alive and transforms into a giant parade along the Mediterranean coast. Between the Nice Carnival and the Menton Lemon Festival , smiles light up the faces of thousands of spectators who come to witness these events, unique in the world, for a fortnight. The Nice Carnival (15 February – 2 March), with its traditional battle of flowers and its two-hour illuminated parade where the floats compete in creativity, will this year be themed around the King of the Oceans… As for the Lemon Festival (15 February – 2 March), with its vibrant and wild parades and its ephemeral citrus sculptures, this 91st edition will celebrate journeys to the stars!

February is also the month when the hills of the western Côte d’Azur are adorned with little touches of gold thanks to the mimosa blossoms ! Mandelieu-La Napoule is hosting the Mimosa Festival from 12 to 16 February: a festive, joyful and popular celebration featuring processions, parades, entertainment and floats… It’s also the perfect opportunity to take the Mimosa Route: a 130 km fragrant journey from Bormes-les-Mimosas to Grasse via Mandelieu.
