The Automobile Club de Monaco planning a packed week of events

Publication date: 19/05/2020
This Sunday should have seen the 78th edition of the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, first held in 1929.

To protect the health of the participants, spectators and all those involved in organising this iconic race meeting, the Automobile Club de Monaco has been forced to take the painful decision to cancel what is a major event, not just for the Principality but for motor sport in general.

We will miss the race, just like motor sport fans all over the world, and all those for whom race weekend is normally a chance to experience a few days and nights of pure magic in a truly unique atmosphere, in the prestigious setting of the Principality.

Despite this, we are pleased to announce that we have just received some excellent news - in 2021, three major automobile races will take place in the Principality

  • The 12th Monaco Historic Grand Prix, from 23 to 25 April 2021
  • The 4th Monaco E-Prix, on Saturday 8 May 2021
  • The 78th Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, from 20 to 23 May 2021

Motor sport fans can look forward to an incredible month!

In the meantime, the Automobile Club de Monaco has arranged a packed week of events, to give spectators starved of action something to get their teeth into, while they wait for 2021.

Throughout the week, you can get a taste of that special race-day atmosphere and the thrilling sound of racing cars skimming the safety rails along the port, where some of the world’s finest yachts are moored.
At this time of severely limited travel possibilities, the Automobile Club de Monaco’s social media pages will be your ticket to get away from it all.

As a kind of warm-up lap to get things rolling, during the week you can vote for your favourite Grand-Prix of all time. The results will be streamed on Sunday from 3 pm.
On Wednesday 20 May 2020 from 2 pm, instead of the 2020 race, there’s a chance to relive the 2019 Grand-Prix won by (spoiler alert!)… Lewis Hamilton
On Thursday 21 May 2020, some extremely rare archive pictures will take you back in time to the 1950 Monaco Grand Prix, the first edition which was officially part of the Formula 1 World Championship. Then, throughout the day, you can experience the unique atmosphere of this very special Grand Prix, like no other.
Friday 22 May 2020 will be dedicated to Sir Jackie Stewart’s maiden victory in the Principality, and a “greatest hits” collection of drivers’ shared moments with fans during race weekend.
On Saturday 23 May 2020, qualifying day, relive highlights of perfect laps by Ayrton Senna and the top drivers of all time.
On Sunday 24 May 2020, race day, from 3 pm, relive the Grand-Prix that you voted the best ever.
And at 9 pm, finally, it will be time for the race itself!

A virtual esport F1 Monaco Grand Prix, with the chance to get behind your favourite drivers and experience the thrill of the race from behind your screen.

We hope you enjoy a week full of roaring engines, and look forward to seeing you in the Principality next year for three major events in the world of motor sport.
