Spotlight on South Africa at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco

The Soweto Gospel Choir is in concert on 3 December 2013

The Soweto Gospel Choir has been travelling the world since 2002.  It has achieved great success and has made its mark as one of the best choirs in the world.

The Choir is composed of the 20 best gospel singers in South Africa, and offers a breathtaking show full of grace and beauty.  Well known gospel standards, international hits, traditional South African songs and Zulu dances all form part of its repertoire, which is as rich and colourful as the costumes, and performed to perfection by the pure voices of the singers, a capella or accompanied by its four talented musicians.

The Soweto Gospel Choir is sponsored by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.  The Choir has been a runaway success and has won many international awards, including two prestigious Grammy Awards in the USA in 2007 and 2008 for its albums "Blessed" and "African Spirit."

Since it was first created, the Soweto Gospel Choir has triumphed in more than 20 countries.  It has also performed alongside great artists such as Céline Dion, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Peter Gabriel, Queen, Alicia Keys, Bono, Cat Stevens, Annie Lenox and Johnny Clegg.

For its 10th anniversary, the group will be undertaking its first tour in France.
