The Mayor of Nagasaki, Mr. Tomihisa Taue, accompanied by his delegation, visited the Principality from 18 to 21 April 2013
H.E. Mr. Patrick Médecin, Ambassador of Monaco to Japan, and Mrs. Béatrice Projetti, Secretary General of the Monaco-Japan Association, received the Japanese delegation to find out about and study various possibilities for cooperation between Nagasaki and Monaco.
This visit was initiated following a visit to Nagasaki on 5 and 6 October 2012 by the Ambassador of Monaco to Japan, during which he met the Authorities of the Prefecture of the City, and when Monaco and Nagasaki received awards for the best night-time views.
After being received at the City Hall by the Mayor and members of the Council of the Commune, the delegation met with Mr. Guillaume Rose, Director of Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority, for a presentation on Monaco's advantages. This was followed by a fruitful exchange of points of views on strategies and initiatives undertaken by Monaco with regard to promoting tourism.
Numerous working meetings were held with the Department of the Environment, the organisers of the "Peace and Sport" Association, Mr. Edmond Pastor, the Honorary Consul General of Japan to Monaco and President of the Monaco-Japan Association.
Finally, the programme included visits to the Oceanographic Museum, the Scientific Centre's research laboratory, the Yacht Club, the Cathedral, the Exotic Garden, the Grimaldi Forum and the Japanese Garden.
