One wonders why dreams are always drawn towards escaping from reality. What if, on the contrary, we looked upon dreams as a way in, a chance to enlighten the obscurities of a reality that cannot be reduced merely to a rational understanding? As the daring partner of imagination, perhaps a dream is capable of showing us previously unsuspected "plans" of reality, in the same way that by casting our gaze far into the distance - what one might describe as utopically - we can better discern the qualities and shortcomings of that which is right in front of us.
