Don't miss Fabrice Luchini in: "Conversation autour des portraits et auto-portraits" ("Conversation about portraits and self-portraits"), on 24 July at the Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo! Friday 24 July 2020, at 8.30 pm Opéra de Monte-Carlo - Salle Garnier

Fabrice Luchini: actor, critic and lover of literature, began as an apprentice barber in Paris, before coming to the attention of Philippe Labro in a nightclub.

After starting out in independent films, Fabrice Luchini broke through into mainstream cinema in 1990 with his role in "La Discrète" ("The Discreet"). Spotted by Eric Rohmer, Luchini has made regular appeareances on TV chat shows and debates with his sparkling wit and thoughtful observations. The actor is now one of the brightest stars in the French cinematic firmament, having appeared in classic films such as "Beaumarchais", "Colonel Chabert", "Jean-Philippe", "In The House", "The Women On The 6th Floor", "Courted" ou "Alice And The Mayor". Since 2004, he has played Nietzsche, Céline and La Fontaine and boasts an extraordinary repertoire spanning everything from psychologist to miser, via the characters of Flaubert.

Fabrice Luchini describes his latest creation in the following terms: "When I read “Croquis de mémoire” by Jean Cau, I was struck by his descriptions of Général de Gaulle, François Mitterrand, Georges Pompidou... For this new reading, I chose the portraits of three eminent literary personalities from the 20th century: Gaston Gallimard, Jean Cocteau and Jean Genet. They led me to some of the sumptuous portraits and self-portraits written by Charles Baudelaire in “Spleen”, the ferocious portrait of Paul Verlaine by Arthur Rimbaud, and then to Philippe Lançon who describes the surgeon who operated on him after the Charlie Hebdo attack, and I end with the dusky smile of the blonde tourist by Philippe Muray."

"Conversation autour des portraits et auto-portraits", the latest creation of Fabrice Luchini, will be premiered on Friday 24 July at the Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo with a single performance.
