Marianne Faithfull in Concert à Monaco

The iconic British star will perform on stage at the Opéra Garnier on 6 December 2014 as part of her world tour

In 1964, when she was just 17, Marianne Faithfull's life would change when she met the manager of the Rolling Stones at a party in London.  A few months later, she recorded her first disc.  "As Tears Go By," one of the very first songs written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, featured in the British Top 10 as soon as it was released.

After some highs and lows in her musical career – she also worked in cinema at the same time – she returned in 1979 with a new album entitled "Broken English."  The folk themes she originally favoured gave way to more gritty songs, such as "Why Do Ya Do It?," "Working Class Hero" and "Broken English."  Her voice, which was now deep and husky, became her trademark.

Marianne's latest album was released in 2011.  "Horses and High Heels" marked her return to writing, with contributions from Lou Reed and Laurent Voulzy, among others.

Marianne Faithfull's 2014 world tour for the 50th anniversary of her career will close in Monaco on Saturday 6 December.
