Last week, the prestigious
"China Travel & Meetings Industry Awards" gala took place in Beijing.
At this event, the organizers
awarded Monaco Tourist and Convention Authority (DTC) the "Emerging MICE*
Destination of the Year" prize, which was received by Alain Hong, Director
of the DTC's representative office in China.
Since 2011, the
"China Travel & Meetings Industry Awards" have been presented to
the best tourism players in the M.I.C.E. sector (an acronym for the organisation
of conferences, exhibitions, trade fairs and incentive travel).
This award is formal
recognition of the promotional work carried out by the DTC's representatives in
Southeast Asia. Under the leadership
of Benoît Badufle, the representative team, comprised of Alain Hong for China
and Zhi Heng Yew for Southeast Asia, has undertaken outstanding work in the
business tourism segment in Asia.
As a reminder, one of
the priority missions of the DTC's eleven representative offices abroad is the
task of promoting business tourism.
This sector appears to be one of the key aspects
in developing Monegasque tourism, but is also primordial in balancing tourist
numbers according to the seasons.
* M.I.C.E.: Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions (i.e. the four
sectors of Business Tourism).
