"Draw me a Bison … On the Trail of the First Artists," until 28 February 2014
Monaco's Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology is painting a portrait … of the most ancient artists!
Statuettes, Venuses, tools, jewellery and decorated ceramics have been brought out of the Museum's stores for the occasion and will transport the public into the fascinating world of prehistoric and protohistoric art.
The prehistory of art is depicted and brought to life with the help of experts in prehistory and the brushwork of contemporary artists. But from decorated caves to carvings in the open air, researchers and visitors keep asking the same question – is this art for art's sake?
The answer is as rich and complex as the origins of art ….
