Great Season Series:  concert by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra Friday 14 June, at 8.30 pm, Auditorium Rainier III

The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra (OPMC) will be conducted by Yu LONG and accompanied by violinist Maxim VENGEROV. The concert is to take place with the generous support of "Les Amis de l’Orchestre".
As a prelude to the concert, at 7.30 pm, André Peyregne will be presenting the works to be performed.

On the programme:
Qigang Chen, emperor of contemporary Chinese music. The last student of Olivier Messiaen, he marvelously embodies the dialogue between East and West, successfully allying Chinese thought with European musical ideas. His work often includes different times, and different elements of tradition and modernity, co-existing together. His sense of instrumental colour and the real lyricism he weaves into his works are always a source of fascination for audiences and critics.
