"Casse-Noisette Compagnie" ("Nutcracker Company") by Jean-Christophe Maillot in Monaco

It's the highlight of the ballet season. Maillot's new work will be performed from 26 December 2013 to 5 January 2014

The original Casse-Noisette Circus (Nutcracker Circus) was first seen in the big top for the Jubilee of Prince Rainier III, who was a great lover of circus and dance.

The new Casse-Noisette Compagnie, performed by 50 dancers from the Compagnie des Ballets de Monte-Carlo and accompanied by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, recalls this famous, highly acclaimed show, but in a different way.

This new, large-scale show tells the story of Clara, whose dreams magically come true.

The ballet also reflects Jean-Christophe Maillot's own story.  Arriving in Monaco in 1993, he also dreamed of creating an artistic world.  Like the young Clara, he met a powerful musician.

The iconic characters created by Jean-Christophe Maillot throughout his career shine through in this ballet and recount the choreographer's fascinating story, which is still being written …
