Kees Van Dongen Exhibition in Monaco
The exhibition "Kees Van Dongen, l'Atelier" ("Kees Van Dongen, the Artist's Studio") will be presented at the Villa Sauber (Nouveau Musée National de Monaco), (New National Museum of Monaco) from 15 June to 25 November 2012
Drawings illustrating the satirical newspapers of the time, works from his Fauve and Parisian periods and society portraits – the exhibition retraces different types of work by this Dutch artist without aiming to put together an exhaustive retrospective. Rather, it is a question of recreating the atmosphere of his studio, a "hanging" to make the Museum's collections better known.
The works presented by the Nouveau Musée National were acquired between 2004 and 2008 from the artist's family. His wife and son still live in Monaco.
